Katrina Balangue, M.S., CCC-SLP is an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certified speech-language pathologist. In 2024, Katrina continues her 13th year practicing speech therapy and 16th year working with clients with special needs. Katrina founded Tryumph Speech Therapy with the desire to do more for her clients. With healthcare often being fast-paced and driven by numbers and profit, Katrina witnessed that high quality care was lacking in speech therapy treatment. Because of this, Katrina created a work environment for Tryumph Speech Therapy that exceeded industry standards by supporting smaller caseloads and no productivity requirements so that her clients could receive the adequate attention and personalized care that they deserved.

Katrina received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She graduated with High Distinction (top 10%) with a double major in Linguistics and Brain, Behavior, & Cognitive Sciences and was inducted into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi academic honor societies. During her time at the University of Michigan, Katrina worked at the world-renowned University Center for Language and Literacy (UCLL) where she was exposed to month-long, daily intensive therapy programs for adults with aphasia and children with speech, language, and developmental delays.

Katrina then pursued graduate training in speech-language pathology and obtained her Master of Science in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas. At UT Dallas, Katrina gained experience at the Callier Center for Communication Disorders, which is nationally recognized in speech-language pathology and audiology for their treatment, training, and research for children and adults with speech, language, and hearing disorders.

Katrina’s clinical experience in speech therapy includes serving all ages and abilities—from toddlers, to teens, to adults. She has worked in the clinic, public school, home health, academic university, and private practice settings. She has extensive experience working with individuals with developmental delays or special needs including neurodivergent clients with autism, intellectual disability, learning disabilities, ADHD, etc. Katrina anticipated the future of technology in healthcare and the growing need for a more flexible service delivery model. Thus, she began providing teletherapy back in 2018, two years prior to virtual services becoming a necessity as the result of the pandemic. Katrina’s therapy approach is client-centered and she prioritizes holistic health, functional therapy, and caregiver education.

"I often use play-based therapy, especially for children who are preverbal and/or sensory seeking. My client-centered approaches focus on developing functional communication skills that are meaningful to your everyday life at home, school, work, or in the community. When planning treatment, I take your interests and hobbies into consideration so that you can use the skills we practice immediately."

Katrina currently resides in Austin, Texas. In her free time, Katrina enjoys fitness, thrifting, and enjoying all the outdoor and water-related activities Austin has to offer.
